Ideas For Remodeling A Small Kitchen

When you have a small kitchen it is very important to plan it out well so that all the equipment can fit in. For a small kitchen you need to plan out a format that permits easy storage but also allows space to move around. So when you are planning on small kitchen remodeling you should always write down the mistakes of your previous plans and make the new plans to improvise the functional uses of your kitchen.

Remember it is very easy to design a big kitchen with ample space area but to fit in the same storage area in a small kitchen is no easy task. You can get professional help and get the kitchen re-done by one of the interior designers or opt for a ready to install modular kitchen which may serve your purpose.

Things to keep in mind when starting small kitchen remodeling

Choose a fitted kitchen that occupies less area but gives you more storage place. Allow enough space for free movement in the kitchen.

If you are a single person staying alone then you may not use it very often but for a bigger family you need to stock cutlery, grocery. Etc. So keep ample storage area for the same. If possible you ca also include a dinning area in the kitchen with the table fitting in to a cabinet to allow more space. If you think the space is getting too cramped then move your dinning area outside to the living room.

The refrigerator should never be placed near the cooking area as the appliances may not function properly. Ideally, the refrigerator should always be placed between the entrance of the kitchen and the cooking so that other members of the house can easily access it.

Your kitchen shape should either be galley style with all working areas like sink, stove, etc, close to each other or a two galley area where the space below the work area and cupboards are placed opposite for easy access and less walking around searching for stuff.

Usually the popular kitchens today are L-shaped, U-shaped and galley shaped ones. The L-shaped ones are ideal because they give more storage area and also a more organized work area. The U-shaped ones have the maximum work area and storage area, but they have very less floor area which makes it a little clustered for some.

When starting a small kitchen remodeling project always decide on the kitchen layout. The most important ones are the placement of the sink, the preparation area and the hob area, where you can keep the fridge, etc. Also keep in mind the service points for water, electricity and gas. You should also make sure that there is enough sunlight and air movement.
